Easy, soft, salty, buttery, garlic-y goodness. These bread sticks are amazing and so easy! They are a staple of mine that enhance any pasta dish.
Makes 12 bread sticks
Prep time: 30 min
Rest time: About 2 hours
Bake time: 12-13 min
Ingredients:
For the Dough 3 Cups All-Purpose Flour
2 TSP Instant Yeast
1 Cup Warm Water
2 TSP Salt (I find sea salt tastes best)
2 TBS Sugar
3 TBS Olive Oil
Garlic Butter
5-6 TBS Unsalted Butter, Melted
2 Garlic Cloves
Sea salt for garnish
Directions:
Combine sugar, water, and yeast in a Kitchen Aid Mixer. Let rest 10 min.
Add in salt and flour while mixer is on low speed. Add in olive oil and continue mixing until dough forms.
Remove dough from bowl and transfer to a bowl that has been lightly lined with oil. Cover with damp towel and let rise 1 hour.
Punch dough to release air. Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface. Cut into 12 equal pieces. gently roll each piece into an 8 inch log. Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet 2 inches apart (I use 2 baking sheets).
Cover with damp towel and let rise 1 hour. Preheat oven to 425 near end of rise time.
Bake at 425 for 12-13 min. Until golden blown on top. While baking combine garlic with melted butter.
Brush hot bread sticks with garlic butter and sprinkle sea salt on top.
If you plan to not eat all of the bread sticks, no not brush extra bread sticks with butter. Instead put leftover bread sticks in a zip top bag and store at room temperature. When you plan to eat the leftovers, heat oven to 400. Wrap bread sticks in foil and heat until warm. Brush bread sticks with garlic butter as soon as they are removed from the oven.
